I spoke at an event for LGFB the other day. Meeting so many great people who have been touched by cancer. People who are doing wonderful and cool things to help support people and loved ones with cancer is so energizing.

It was a pleasure meeting you all, and thank you so much for letting me tell my story. Thanks for laughing at my jokes, and thanks for sharing your stories with me.

I met this guy who was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was in his mid-20's (shout out to Peter!). He also does stand up comedy and jokes about his ball cancer. I can't wait to check out one of his shows, because you know I love a good laugh about cancer..,I think I've found a kindred spirit.

I also want to talk about the amazing work that Peter, Leo, and the team at "Cancer Fatigue Services" are doing right now - https://cancerfatigueservices.com/

If you or a loved one are going through this, and you live in Ontario, please check them out.

I also met some amazing people that know of someone with ass cancer! I didn't think that there were so many others out there, but at least they feel comfortable enough to share that they have it. I'll admit, its one of the more "taboo" cancers to talk about. There is a sort of "shameful" aspect to saying the word rectal. I still don't think I've told many people about it (especially at work or in a professional setting). Ain't no one gotta be thinking about my ass hole at work. I just say "colon" because somehow that's "better". Less specific. The more time that passes, the more comfortable I am telling people the truth. You don't have to be ashamed, you didn't cause this, this has nothing to do with you.

Anyways, remember you are not alone and there are so many people that can help. Use the resources that are available. They are out there and most people don't even know what is available. Ask, research, talk to others. Take advantage of as much as you can, while you can.

Thanks for taking the time to meet with me at the event, and thank you for sharing your stories with me. You got this.
